IS NOW A GOOD TIME TO RETURN TO CHINA?

斯路森 SolutionsConsulting 2020-09-11

The world has been shaken after the outbreak of Coronavirus. The virus which started from a city of China named Wuhan has now spread worldwide in various countries. China has been home to a large number of foreigners who areworking as employees of various companies, owning their own trading companiesas well as studying.

Due to the outbreak of Coronavirus many of them either returned back to their home countries or were already there before the Chinese New Year holidays and have been staying there since. Almost all of them have one question on their mind.

WHEN SHOULD I RETURN BACK?

Before answering this question we should listen to what World Health Organization (WHO) have to say about China measures in fight against the virus.

China’s bold approach to contain the rapid spread of this new respiratory pathogen has changed the course of a rapidly escalating and deadly epidemic. This decline in COVID-19 cases across China is real.

The recent numbers of cases of COVID-19 are in decline and by eachpassing day the numbers of cases are getting lower and lower. This is good news for foreigners who are eager to come back and operate their businesses as normal.

China has been taking a series of hardcore measures to ensure job creation, facilities employment and college graduates and solve difficulties for businesses to stabilize employment amid the novel coronavirus outbreak.

A study, by a team from Sun Yat Sen University in Guangzhou, the capital of south China’s Guangdong province says:

The virus is highly sensitive to high temperatures which could prevent it from spreading in warmer countries.

This is good news as currently climate is becoming more and more warmer in China by each passing day which will result in the further decline of the virus.

Many foreigners want to come back but have various questions and fears in their minds. The unanswered questions puzzling them to an extent that one is unable to make a decision. There is a famous saying of a great thinker Albert Einstein:

Keeping this saying in mind we can now answer the various questions in the mind of foreigners which are becoming a hindrance for their return to China.

01

Will I be quarantined if I return to China?

If you have been to or are from Italy, Japan, Korea and Iran or other high risk regions with COVID-19 outbreak, then you will be quarantined for 14 days at home or at government facilities.

02

Are factories back in production?

Apart from the locked down region of Hubei Province and the nearby areas some of which are partly locked down, factories are gradually opening their production lines by each passing day. Take an example of Guangzhou city which is the business hub of China where wholesale markets are opening up day by day and getting back to business. There may be a slow rate of production due to workers not being able to go back to factories from the locked down regions however life and business is getting back to normal.

03

What about the Flights to China?

Various airlines are still operating as normal from different parts of the world to China. Each country may have their own policy about sending their airline to China therefore one should confirm it with concerned authority before making their travel plan. China has not closed its doors to any country however some nationalities from high risk regions will have to go through a 14 day quarantined period for their own safety.  You may experience a slight delay in immigration control at airports due to the health checks of passengers which normally includes just a temperature check.

Opportunities:

The current situation also brings various opportunities for foreigners who are in China or want to return to China. The Chinese government is using fiscal and monetary policies to cushion the blow to the economy caused by the outbreak. Some of the policies so far include cutting and postponing taxes and employee’s social security for enterprises to help them manage these difficult times. For various foreigners the rules for visas are more relaxed as they can get 60 days automatic extensions in their visas which are expiring during this period. Foreigners may also get 2 years visa on B category. These are opportunities which one may take advantage of.
